Life has within it many twists and turns,

Some self-inflicted and some unearned.

What is undeniable and should be discerned,

Jesus cares and is willing.

Calamities pouring like a waterfall,

Disasters coming both great and small.

Amazingly, standing in the midst of it all,

Jesus cares and is willing.

Rebellious nature inherited at birth,

Mired in the darkness of the earth,

But God’s love sounded the alert.

Jesus cares and is willing.

God alone satisfies humanity’s needs,

Offering grace and mercy all there for thee

Only accept the Spirit who daily pleads

Jesus cares and is willing.

I suspect certain Scriptures linger with all Bible readers. I have some, and one of them is the conversation between Jesus and a leper found in Mark 1:40-45. (NKJV). Specifically, the statement made by the leper to Jesus, "If You are willing, You can make me clean.” It was without question a courageous act of faith for the leper to come out of hiding and approach Jesus. Yet, what was personally astounding was the leper’s concern regarding Jesus’ compassion. The Scripture does not share information regarding the thought process of the leper, so we cannot speak for Him. However, from that statement, I have always been convicted to speak to those who might believe that they are beyond the compassion of Jesus. The answer is you are not, because Jesus cares and is willing.

I have encountered people who question God’s willingness to help them. One reason is

the feeling of being victimized to the extent that you doubt God’s love. You have heard the

question, or maybe you have asked the question yourself, “Why me?” The preoccupation with

doubt can be so consuming that those in need may not believe that Jesus cares and is willing. Another reason for questioning God is the belief that Jesus conforms to and is contained by cultural norms. A snare that must be avoided by the Church is the influence of outside talk and not relying on a scriptural and spiritual walk. The last reason is the belief that you are not a priority to Jesus. Nowhere in Scripture did Jesus turn His back on anyone who came and accepted His help. I will say it again another way: maybe the leper’s statement was caused by ridicule placed on him by heartless religious people that left him doubting the heart of Jesus Christ. Still, with a word of compassion, Jesus said, “I am willing…” My desire in writing this poem is that for those who will hear: whether you feel victimized by circumstances, feel unaccepted by culture, feel unimportant by position, or for any other reason that would have you believe in God's ability but doubt God's compassion, know this: Jesus Cares and is Willing.

Pray God’s will be done in your life.
